Training for Therapeutic Hypnosis

 

Our courses equip students with the skills necessary to practice what we believe can be one of the most satisfying of caring professions.  Therapeutic Hypnosis can be used in conjunction with counselling and other psychotherapies, however, it is a powerful medium in itself, promoting and facilitating beneficial change and it can alleviate a variety of presenting symptoms:- physical, emotional and psychological.

 

 

General courses currently available: 

 

The structure of our courses allows individuals to study at all levels:

 

The Foundation course covers the practical aspects of the hypnotic state and prepares students for further studies into the clinical applications of hypnosis.

 

The Diploma course is professional training consisting of both theoretical information and practical sessions to prepare the student for professional practice.

 

The 'Intensive' days / Advanced certificated course are designed to be of particular interest to practising therapists to help further develop their capabilities and to extend and enhance their skills.

 

The ability to use Clinical Hypnosis in a safe, appropriate manner is of paramount importance and this is emphasised throughout all our professional training programmes.

 

 

The Foundation course:

The Foundation course is held over 3 weekends in the classroom where students learn the basics of inducing hypnosis safely and appropriately. Our Foundation course allows students to practice the basics of hypnosis including inductions, deepening techniques and hypnotic phenomena under the watchful eye of the lecturers. We believe that this is the best preparation for further studies and provides students with the basic skills needed to induce hypnosis safely and appropriately.

 

There is an element of continuous assessment of students throughout the course and during the final weekend students will undertake a multiple choice written and, practical exam. On successful completion of the foundation course students will be awarded the NCTH Ltd. Foundation certificate in Therapeutic Hypnosis and will be invited to apply for Associate / Student Membership of the Hypnotherapy Society .

 

Students are eligible to undertake the Diploma course on successful completion of the Foundation course. Students who have completed Foundation training elsewhere may also be eligible to progress onto the Diploma course through either / or:

• successful completion of our Foundation course exam

• demonstartion of accredited prior learning.

The Diploma course:

The Diploma course is held over 10 weekends over a period of approximately 10 months and covers the therapeutic use of hypnosis (including NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming) and specific therapeutic techniques. Continuous assessment is an integral part of the course.  This forms a balance of theory and practice and ensures we meet the high criteria required by the Hypnotherapy Society and our external assessors the Medical Hypnotherapy Examinations Board (Registered in England and Wales).

 

The exam includes written and practical elements set by our external assessors the Medical Hypnotherapy Examinations Board.  On successful completion of the course and exam, students will be awarded the Medical Hypnotherapy Examinations Board Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis and are invited to apply for Licentiate Membership with the Hypnotherapy Society .

 

At the start of the Diploma course students are offered the opportunity to be part of our Mentoring Programme. Interested students are matched accordingly to an ex-student of the college who is now working as a Hypnotherapist in order to gain additional support and guidance throughout their studies.

'Intensive' days / Advanced cerificated course:

 

 The 'Intensive' days / Advanced certificated days are designed to be of particular interest to practising therapists to help further develop their capabilities and to extend and enhance their skills.  The 'intensives' are held over 1 or 2 days and cover specialist subjects of interest which students can ‘tap into’ as and when required or students can attend 'intensives' to build up credits towards the Advanced Certification in Hypnotherapy and related Psychotherapeutic Studies as awarded by the NCTH Ltd.  Students are welcome from other training establishments and with other qualifications providing they can demonstrate they have studied Hypnotherapy at Diploma level.
