Background Information:
The NCTH (Northern College of Therapeutic Hypnosis Ltd.) was established in July 1999 and was founded to meet the need for a private training college that sets the highest possible standards in education and ethics. The focus of the college is to promote the safe use of Clinical Hypnosis, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), and Psychotherapy through it's training courses in Therapeutic Hypnosis. However, over the years the NCTH has developed a range of courses which utilise appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques and are tailored to meet the needs of a wide variety of audiences. In addition to continuing to build credibility as The Northern College of Therapeutic Hypnosis with medical professionals and within the field of clinical hypnosis the NCTH now also supports individuals, groups and organisations through:
• Training for Business Success
• Training for Personal Success
• Training for Community Success
and has developed a reputation for tailoring courses to the specific requirements of both business and community orientated organisations. The NCTH also works in partnership with other agencies/organisations during the development and delivery of courses in order to enhance the learners experience.
Training Methods and Ethos:
Our training methods are creative and interactive with an emphasis on involvement and fun. They include:
• Ice-breakers
• Participatory games and activities
• Discussion groups
• Case studies
and:
• Bubble machines and music!
We include the use of IT within our training wherever appropriate in order to introduce learners to self-directed learning through accessing relevant information, tool kits, self-help tools etc. available on the world wide web. We know our learners come from very different backgrounds and community settings and therefore encourage them to develop the skills and experience they bring – some of which may not have been acknowledged before. All our training is participatory and experiential with an emphasis on sharing within a relaxed and supportive learning environment. Theory is put into practice and contextualised within the experience and working life of the individual learner. The overall emphasis of all our training is on 'content over style' and in 'making the concepts work for you'.
We use 2 trainers in groups of over 10 and often have an assistant trainer to support the participatory sessions. Groups establish their own ground rules and all activities promote equal opportunities and participation. Materials and resources reflect the diverse nature of the businesses and communities we work in.
The quality of our courses is maintained and developed through learner’s evaluation, training review / planning meetings with trainers and reviews with partner organisations / agencies.
